Enchanted Footbridge

Gallery › Fall Foliage

On a 2021 visit to the far northeast area of Tennessee, we were able to observe and photograph an Appalachian fall surrounded by the mesmerizing autumn colors.

Out of Erwin, TN, the Spivey Mountain Road leads east and then south as it crosses over into North Carolina. Still on the Tennessee side is Spivey Creek with its four beautiful waterfalls and the lower falls pictured in one of our other prints. Accessed from the Chandler Cove Road, the falls and this lovely footbridge are located on private property. There’s enough room to park a couple vehicles and view the falls and this well-kept yard from a distance without crossing a barricade marking the property. The white-washed footbridge stood out so nicely against the changing fall colors and was framed by colorful foliage. Beyond lay Spivey Creek tumbling and cascading into the canopy of over-arching trees. The enchanted little footbridge seemed to beckon us to come and explore along the creek and enter the depths of the mysterious forest. We felt like we could not have stumbled across this scene at a better time surrounded by tall trees crowned in their autumn glory. Truly a memorable location.
